Look&Fin: Exploring Crowdlending Investments with High Net Returns

In its comparison, Mes-finances.be identifies a single product which currently offers a slightly higher net return than what the one-year government bond offered. It’s a crowdlending formula, a formula that is still relatively unknown to the general public. It involves going through a platform, in this case Look&Fin, which offers different ways of investing.

In each case, it involves lending your money to a company that is looking to borrow to finance a project. On the platform, projects from different companies are presented. It’s up to the investor to choose who they want to lend their money to. An investment category, the safest among those offered by the platform, guarantees to recover at least the capital invested via insurance which intervenes if the borrowing company defaults. The money is loaned there for at least one year, with an interest rate of 3.15% net.

In this type of investment, the money is blocked for the entire duration of the loan, one year, two years, three years… It is therefore impossible, in principle, to recover it if necessary.

Placing your money in a crowdlending formula is therefore not necessarily for everyone. As Nicolas Claeys, from TestAchats Invest, explains to us, this is something to consider “if you have a lot of money in an account“, for what goes beyond the savings that it is prudent to keep for hard times.”We consider that it is necessary to keep the equivalent of three to six months of salary, or around 15,000 euros depending on the median salary.“, notes Nicolas Claeys.

The latter also advises those who would be tempted by crowdlending to invest small amounts in several projects rather than in just one. Better, for example, 500 euros in four different projects than 2000 euros in just one, just to spread the risks.

At TestAchats Invest, we also remind you that there are still other alternatives to the State voucher. There are, for example, the other obligations of the Belgian State, or even the obligations of other “safe” States, such as the Austrian State, for example. Bonds on the secondary market are also a possibility to consider.
