Bringing the GT car concept to life is one of the most exciting jobs that luxury yacht designers have ever been given. Aurelia has brought this idea to life perfectly, presenting an incredibly detailed homage to motor racing. The billionaire client wanted his new yacht to reflect this in terms of performance and design. The result is just a dizzying yacht.
In 2011 Heesen Yachts delivered the 122ft Aurelia. It was custom-designed for a very wealthy owner.
As the name suggests, the Aurelia was built and styled as an homage to racing cars – right down to the smallest detail. The name is directly related to the first Gran Turismo car, the Lancia Aurelia GT. The unique color scheme of the hull was inspired by the official colors of Gulf Oil Racing.
All this is enough to make the new yacht stand out from the crowd, wherever she goes. However, the owner and designers wanted more. Bannenberg & Rowell continued the racing theme with the Aurelia’s interior design. Each of the guest cabins features a unique interior inspired by a particular legendary car and designer: Bertone (Orange Lamborghini), Zagato (Green Aston Marin) and Pininfarina (Red Ferrari).
The designers added exquisite details such as Linley Aston Martin armchairs and bookcase inserts with a car grille. In terms of performance, the Aurelia can also be considered the marine equivalent of a luxury sports car. 3448 hp engines allow the yacht to reach a maximum speed of 31 knots (57.4 km/h).
Advanced gyro stabilizers ensure optimum efficiency and smooth running even in difficult conditions. The yacht is capable of over 2,000 nautical miles (3,704 km).
This yacht also stands out for its unusual layout. Most pleasure craft of this size are configured with five cabins that can accommodate up to ten guests. The Aurelia can accommodate only eight guests, but pampers them with luxurious spacious cabins. The exquisite master suite is located on the main deck, while the other three cabins are located on the lower deck.
The stunning main saloon consists of a spacious living room and an impressive dining area dominated by a large elegant table. Aurelia offers three main outdoor areas for relaxing, dining al fresco and sunbathing.
