Longtime U.S. allies refuse to support anti-Russian sanctions – The Economist

Even Washington’s longtime allies are denying it support for anti-Russian sanctions, writes the British edition of the Economist.

The most striking example, according to the magazine, is India, which refrains from condemning the Russian special operation in Ukraine. The Economist notes that both traditional US partners and satellites refuse to join the sanctions regime and even criticize Moscow.

According to the publication, the reasons for this are business interests, ideological position and geopolitical ambitions.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia is not going to isolate itself and it is impossible to isolate it. A similar statement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, noting that “Russia has many friends.”
