[이데일리 이순용 기자] HDL research scholars from around the world, including Korea, the United States, Italy, Japan, and Cuba, gather in one place.
This symposium, under the theme of ‘longevity factor HDL’, will be held for the first time this year and will be held on the 28th at the Grand Hyatt Seoul. In this symposium, domestic and foreign speakers and domestic healthcare-related companies from Korea, the United States, Italy, Japan, and Cuba gathered to look at HDL research trends under the theme of ‘longevity factor HDL’, and to see how HDL can improve human health and quality of life. It is a place to share various ways that can be done together.
HDL (High Density Lipoprotein) is also referred to as a ‘longevity factor’ following recent studies in several countries, including Greece and China, have shown that HDL levels are high in longevity people. HDL is also known as a component involved in the prevention of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases by releasing cholesterol accumulated in the intima of blood vessels.
In Part 1, △Professor Anand Rohatgi (Department of Cardiology, Southwestern University Medical Center), ‘HDL and Cardiovascular Metabolic Health’ △Professor Anna Shindeman (University of Michigan, College of Pharmacy), ‘Clinical Translation of Synthetic HDL Therapeutics and Drug Delivery Systems’ △Theodoros Kelesidis (Department of Internal Medicine, Southwestern University Medical Center, USA), Associate Professor, will present on ‘Interaction between HDL and SARS-CoV-2 infection’.
In Part 2, △Francesca Gimetti (Italy, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Parma), “HDL and Cholesterol Metabolism in the Brain,” △ Saray Mendoza (Cuba National Center for Scientific Research, CNIC Research and Development), Director, “Policosanol from Cuba, a substance found in nature,” △ Javier Vicente Sanchez Lopez (Cuba National Institute of Neurology and Neuroscience, National Cerebrovascular Disease Committee) will share experiences and research results from each country under the theme of ‘Cuban Policosanol in Treatment following Ischemic Stroke’.
In Part 3, △Professor Yoshinari Uehara (Department of Cardiology, Fukuoka University Hospital, Japan), ‘The role of HDL in atherosclerosis and beneficial effects of Cuban policosanol on HDL function revealed in a Japanese randomized human trial’ △Cho Kyung-hyeon (Leidel Research Institute) ) Director of Research Institute presents ‘improvement of blood pressure by Cuban policosanol, quantitative and qualitative improvement of HDL, and protection of liver, ovaries and testicles’.
Meanwhile, Reidel, a health functional food brand sponsoring the symposium, said, “We expect to publicize the importance of HDL as a longevity factor through this event.” do,” he said.
