After the start of long weekendthe National Weather Service (SMN) today issued a yellow alert by storms of varying intensity that will affect a large part of the province of Buenos Aires and will advance on Monday towards the Ciudad.
Storms reportedly will form this Sunday following noon in the epicenter of the province of Buenos Aires and they will advance on Monday towards the city of Buenos Aires.
According to the SMN, the area will be affected by storms of varying intensity, some locally strong. They will be accompanied by intense precipitation in short periods, strong electrical activity, intense gusts and occasional hail fall”, they specified from the entity.
Likewise, the SMN highlighted that values of accumulated precipitation between 15 and 40 mm, “can be overcome in a localized way”.
Meanwhile, the SMN also launched this morning orange alerts for snowfall for the Andes area of Neuquén, Río Negro and Chubut, and others yellow due to winds for the same provinces and for Santa Cruz.
According to the report issued, the orange alerts due to snowfall will affect the area of the Huiliches mountain range, the Lácar mountain range and the South of Aluminé, in Neuquén; Bariloche, Pilcaniyeu mountain range and Ñorquincó mountain range, in Río Negro; and the Cushamen mountain range, in Chubut.
According to the SMN, “the area will be affected by moderate to heavy snowfall. The accumulated snow may reach between 50 and 80 centimeters in height, with the largest accumulated in the highest areas. The occurrence of precipitation in the form of rain and snow in the lower areas is not ruled out.
“The phenomenon might be accompanied by strong winds in the highest regions, with reduced visibility due to suspended snow,” he added.
Regarding the yellow alerts, it was specified that in Neuquén it will be present in the Aluminé mountain range, Chos Malal mountain range, Loncopué mountain range, Minas mountain range, Picunches mountain range and Ñorquín mountain range, Catán Lil, Collón Curá, Zapala, east of Loncopué, east of Picunches, east of Ñorquín, west of Añelo, west of Pehuenches, south of Chos Malal, south of Minas, and the lower zone of Aluminé, Huiliches and Lácar.
In Río Negro, the winds will affect the Pilcaniyeu plateau, Ñorquincó plateau, Nueve de Julio, west of El Cuy, Veinticinco de Mayo, Conesa, Adolfo Alsina plateau, San Antonio plateau, Valcheta, Bariloche, Pilcaniyeu mountain range and of Ñorquincó.
In addition, it includes the entire province of Chubut and the Lake Buenos Aires mountain range, Río Chico mountain range, Lake Buenos Aires plateau, Río Chico plateau, Deseado plateau and Magallanes plateau, in Santa Cruz.
This yellow alert level, according to the SMN, indicates that “the area will be affected by winds from the west sector with speeds between 50 and 65 km/h, while gusts may exceed 90 kilometers per hour.”
