He is said to have traveled to Copenhagen to commit murder on behalf of criminals: A young Swede has been sentenced in Denmark to five and a half years in prison followed by deportation. The Copenhagen District Court convicted the 16-year-old of attempted murder and attempted possession of a firearm including magazine and ammunition.

It is the first verdict of its kind in a series of cases in which teenagers from Sweden are accused of serious crimes in neighboring Denmark. The court considered it proven that the defendant had agreed to travel from northern Sweden to Copenhagen for a fee in April 2024 in order to obtain a firearm and use it to shoot a person in the Danish capital region.

The court doesn’t believe the 16-year-old

The crime was not carried out and the 16-year-old was arrested in time. He explained in court that he ultimately had no intention of fulfilling the order. The court didn’t believe him because of, among other things, messages on his cell phone. The teenager appealed the verdict.

Sweden has had a major problem with criminal gangs for years. The gangs are increasingly recruiting young teenagers who then commit serious crimes for them. This problem spilled over into Denmark this year. Denmark’s Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard then warned of “Swedish conditions” in his country.
