Long night of the Viennese markets next Friday

September 1st: Open until 11 p.m., colorful show program with more than 100 hours of acts and competition

Vienna (OTS) – On Friday the time has come: On September 1st, the Long Night of the Markets will take place at all 17 markets in Vienna. Many market stalls will be open until 11 p.m. on the last Friday during the holidays, and the extended shopping experience will be embedded in a colorful supporting program for young and old. The Long Night of the Viennese Markets is taking place for the second time this year and is one of the numerous measures to further stimulate the markets in the city. Market councilor Ulli Sima, NEOS market spokesman Markus Ornig and market office director Andreas Kutheil are looking forward to this year’s edition, which is planned to be even larger and more spectacular than last year: “Fortunately, the frequency of events at the Viennese markets is steadily increasing and we want new guests with different offers win and convince of the fresh market offer. Thanks to the stallholders and the dedicated colleagues from the market office for their tireless efforts throughout the year.”

More than 100 hours of performances by a wide variety of artists

LED, cooking and dog shows, for the smallest market visitors there is the Kasperl, magician and a bouncy castle, readings and book presentations and other acts: A total of more than 100 hours of performances by various artists and show acts give the event on September 1st a happy flair. The Marktamtsmuseum in Floridsdorf is also open throughout the Long Night of the Markets and can be visited free of charge at any time.

200 gift baskets up for grabs

At the market office stands in all 17 retail markets, the first 1,000 visitors can pick up one of the coveted fabric bags of the Viennese markets. Anyone who has already visited 2 markets by 9.30 p.m. and has stamped a participation card accordingly can take part in the raffle for the gift baskets at each market. With a bit of luck you can win one of the 200 gift baskets with great market products.

Here is an excerpt of the colorful range on offer at the participating markets throughout Vienna:

Carmelite Market: From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Kasperl will entertain the little market guests. From 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Kiri rocket tells children’s stories while singing with her guitar. From 8 p.m. there will be musical entertainment with the Fiaker Fiasko, ranging from jazz to punk and HC Artmann. The market offer is expanded to include a handicrafts market with textile art, porcelain manufacture, felt workshops, ceramics, fashion and hat design.

Volkert market: Chess players are welcome here from 6.30 p.m. for a big chess tournament. In addition, the market offering will be expanded to include mobile market stalls at the farmer’s market. The Duo Marie Madame with gipsy jazz, Duo Mopet with new and old Viennese songs, and Bandi & Bosic with extensive variations of blues, jazz, rock & pop covers and French chansons will provide entertainment.

Front garden market: From 6 p.m., DJ Paul Star tries to underline the atmosphere with house and techno vibes, until the evening really picks up speed with Lara Lazagna’s jazz interpretations and the guitar solos of The Fellas. Michael Seyfried closes the program with his drum show from 9 p.m.

Rochus market: The Coverkillers start here at 6 p.m. with well-known catchy tunes, before the guys from Best Lovers deliver the finest rock music.

Naschmarkt: The Naschmarkt offers 4 stages with an exciting programme. Cheeky brass with their cool bohemian brass music are there as well as subway star Hary Levan and Patricia Hill. Mergarten/Reisinger invite you to a jazz session and DJ Mel Merio heats up the Landpartienplatz. In addition, Ms. Hermi from the market office has announced her cooking show.

Viktor Adler Market: From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the market features music from the swing dance big band, before Son del Raval from Basis Kultur Wien takes over with their mix of Afrocolombian, rumba, drum & bass, cumbia and gnawa and traditional influences. There will also be a wine tasting and of course the farmer’s market in Leibnizgasse will also be open.

Meidling market: Whether it’s a dog fashion show, Afghan melodies, big feelings with Ulli & Tom, a breakdance performance or an LED show by Anta Agni, there’s a lot going on here. Alex Miksch is no longer unknown to lovers of bluesy tones and the Mooncats perform in front of Heu & Gabel.

flea market: From 7 p.m. the band Elsa will provide good entertainment. Finally, the Peter Falk Company has announced itself.

Meiselmarkt: Children’s songwriter Bernhard Fibich opens the colorful dance at 6 p.m., before MO Gruja get the guitars to sing from blues, country to Austropop. From 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., the subway stars from Sun State of Mind combine blues, pop and soul elements with modern, rocking electro sounds.

fountain market: DJs ensure the perfect groove on Yppenplatz. There is good entertainment on various squares in Brunnengasse. Whether SodL from Basis Kultur Wien with their alternative/indie rock, or Werkelmann Hans Peter Henhapel, the Viennese song duo Bäuml/Koschelu, there is something for every taste. Visitors can also expect over 50 creative exhibitors from the artistic and creative field, jewelry design, natural cosmetics, fashion with a sustainable background and handcrafted food & beverage products. Food trucks offer their delicacies for a sensational indulgence experience.

coach market: Everything here is about dancing. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., trained trainers will accompany you on Latin Dance, Salsa Cubana or Contemporary.

Johann Nepomuk Vogl market: Philipp Kainz enchants from 6 p.m. before Nora Blaschek invites you to live yoga at 7 p.m. Don’t forget soft mats! Acoustic Voyage is inspired by the great classics such as Ray Charles and Bill Withers as well as by Queen and Muse. Finally, Modest Oda replaces the guitar and bass with two synthesizers.

Gersthof market: Enjoy a whole evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the well-known musician Angela Walter and her saxophone.

Sunday market: The small but fine Sonnbergmarkt offers jazz de luxe by the Holy Moly Guitar Trio and Duo Sanatorium Grinzing.

Nussdorf market: From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Austropop can be heard at the market, played by Christian Mondl with his ukulele. Finger food in small portions from all market stalls offer refreshment.

Hanover market: A bouncy castle for the little market visitors* and music by The New Ancients Rockn Roll & Blues cover band create a great atmosphere.

Floridsdorfer Markt: Here there is jazz with Melissa maHoney from Basis Kultur Wien and German dialect songs by Philipp Griessler as well as Viennese songs with Oskar Kainz and the great swing classics with the Vienna Swing Syndicate.
