Kochi ∙ KSRTC with new travel reform from Thiruvananthapuram to northern districts. A ‘transit’ system will be implemented for those traveling to northern districts via the National Highway and MC Road, where they can alight at Angamaly and continue their journey by another bus. Angamaly will thus become a ‘transit hub’.
This is part of the expansion of single duty to long distance services implemented by KSRTC. This will reduce the excessive workload of the drivers. KSRTC MD Biju Prabhakar said that with the implementation of the project, long-distance buses from Thiruvananthapuram will operate only up to Angamali. It was also clarified that the same seat reserved by the passengers will be made available in the next bus as well.
The crew change which was done in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode will now be implemented in Angamaly. Ankamali will use one floor of the KSRTC complex for bus crew rest and other facilities.
Bus service can be reduced
All the long distance buses that reach Angamaly via MC Road and National Highway need not go to their destination completely. Angamaly still doesn’t get that many passengers from Thiruvananthapuram very often. Passengers reaching Angamali in 100 buses can be reached from Angamali in 70 buses. The remaining 30 buses can be used for return service to Thiruvananthapuram. This will reduce the number of buses on the road from Angamaly to the north.
