Saved by Tonga Association
According to the Loire association, the feline was then in “a state never seen on an animal”.
Jon was mistreated, he arrived declawed, with decayed teeth, only one fang left, a damaged coat and a lacerated tail.
When he arrived in the Loire, he weighed 116 kg, almost half of what a lion of his age must weigh.
Taken in by the Tonga Terre d’Accueil association, Jon underwent two operations to treat his tail and his teeth. In a few months, he gained weight and regained a normal corpulence.
A brutal death
His condition deteriorated suddenly a few days ago. “His death is very brutal because it was only his last 2 days that Jon had a slight drop in diet, he was less active. On the third day, Jon was no longer there”, explains the association on its Facebook page. The autopsy revealed that he died of peritonitis.
Jon was supposed to join a refuge in Italy with his females. The latter are still awaiting legal proceedings.
