A Apple released updates today for the Logic Pro (version 11.1) and for the Logic Pro for iPad (2.1). With the update, both apps gained the Quantec Room Simulatorwhich provides original algorithms and codes for Wolfgang Buchleitner (founder of Quantec) in a plugin format.
According to Apple, Quantec Room Simulator lets you choose Yardstic with enhanced room simulation algorithms, which allow you to model acoustic spaces with more precision, clarity and detail.
The plugin also allows you to add the sounds of Quantec’s hardware reverberators, as well as select vintage QRS to “add a natural acoustic space to the music while preserving its sonic characteristics.”
Specifically in the iPad app, improvements were made to the sound browser with Sample Folders:
- Preview samples and drag and drop to create drum kits, sample instruments, or add directly to a track.
- Access your sample collection directly from Logic’s built-in sound browser.
- Add sample folders from iPad, external storage, and iCloud Drive.
- Use multiple folders to provide an organized view of your favorite samples.
- Simplify complex folder hierarchies into a single, easy-to-navigate list.
On macOS, the exclusive new feature is the plugin search.
- Search by category, manufacturer name, or even part of the plugin name.
- Search and add any plugin directly from the plugin menu.
- Use the search and add plug-ins key commands to quickly find and add plug-ins without even clicking where to insert the channel strip.
The two apps also allow you to download a new sound pack called Modular Melodies, which has hundreds of loops created from physical synthesizers and a collection of patches designed on the Alchemy synthesizer.
Both also gained simpler fixes and improvements, such as new gestures, keyboard shortcuts and greater system integration.
Finally, the Logic Remote has been updated to version 1.5.6 with stability improvements and bug fixes.
Logic Pro for Mac costs R$1,000 on the Mac App Store. The new version requires at least macOS Sonoma 14.4.
Logic Pro for iPad is available for free download and offers subscriptions (R$30/month or R$300/year), with a one-month free trial for new users. The new version requires iPadOS 18.1 or later.

**Jane Doe:** Thank you for having me! I’m really excited about these updates! The inclusion of the Quantec Room Simulator is a game-changer for sound designers and music producers. It’s an impressive piece of technology that brings unparalleled acoustic modeling capabilities to the table—allowing users to shape their environment’s sound in a way that feels authentic.
**Editor:** Absolutely! How does the Quantec Room Simulator improve on the previously available tools?
**Jane Doe:** The Quantec Room Simulator uses advanced algorithms developed by Wolfgang Buchleitner, who founded Quantec. This allows users to model acoustic spaces with remarkably enhanced precision and clarity, which is especially useful for creating immersive music experiences. It also allows integration of Quantec’s hardware reverberators, which adds a touch of vintage character to modern productions.
**Editor:** Sounds fantastic! For iPad users, the update also seems to bring significant improvements to the sound browser. Can you elaborate on that?
**Jane Doe:** Yes, indeed! The updates enhance usability by allowing users to preview samples more effectively and drag them directly into their projects. The ability to access sample folders from various sources, be it iPad storage, iCloud Drive, or external devices, streamlines the workflow significantly. It makes organizing and utilizing samples much more intuitive.
**Editor:** That’s impressive! The Mac version also features a new plugin search capability. How do you think this will benefit users?
**Jane Doe:** The plugin search function is a welcomed addition! It enables users to find plugins quickly by category, manufacturer, or even part of the name. This can drastically speed up the creative process, especially in complex projects where time is of the essence. It reduces the need to click around extensively to find the right tool.
**Editor:** On top of all these features, both versions include a new sound pack, “Modular Melodies.” What can producers expect from this?
**Jane Doe:** “Modular Melodies” is a treasure trove for anyone working with synths. It’s full of loops crafted from physical synthesizers and thoughtfully designed patches from the Alchemy synthesizer. This will add depth and variety to any production, encouraging users to experiment with new sounds.
**Editor:** Fantastic insights, Jane! As a final question, how do you see these updates impacting the music production community?
