Logan Sargeant will try his hand at IndyCar – F1i

A month after his ouster by Williams, Logan Sargeant has returned to the United States and will soon take the wheel of an IndyCar in the hope of extending his career in American competition.

After 37 F1 Grands Prix and scoring just one point in his home race in Austin last year, Sargeant is forced to reassess his career at the age of 23.

Back in his native Florida, he looked at alternatives in the USA, setting his sights on the IndyCar championship.

A test and more if you like

Recently present at the final in Nashville (photo above), the American driver made contacts which led to a test on November 19 at the wheel of a Dallara-Honda from the MSR (Meyer Shank Racing) team on the Thermal Club circuit in California.

The MSR team does not have a seat available for 2025, having already two confirmed starters (Felix Rosenqvist and Marcus Armstrong), but this test session could convince another team to hire him: it is a question of Prema, the Italian team for which Sargeant raced in Formula 3, or Ed Carpenter Racing which has a seat free after having parted ways with the Dutchman Rinus VeeKay.

Drugovich too

Another driver interested in IndyCar, Aston Martin F1 reserve Felipe Drugovich will also test with top team Chip Ganassi Racing on September 30 at the Barber road circuit. The 2023 FIA F2 champion could head to the United States in 2025 given the lack of opportunities in Formula 1.
