This is the objective of Locked Shields, the largest cyber defense exercise organized in the world, with 4,000 experts from 40 nations for this 2024 edition. A Swiss delegation, numbering around seventy people, including militia and military personnel career, as well as personnel from the federal administration and operators of critical infrastructures, will participate in this full-scale simulation.
For three days, between this Tuesday and Thursday, an adversary will launch cyberattacks once morest simulated computer networks and critical infrastructure of a fictitious country. The teams’ task will be to detect these attacks and protect once morest them. As participation in the exercise is reserved for multinational teams, the Swiss Army Cyber Command joined forces with members of the Austrian armed forces, as well as national guards from two American states.
International cooperation allows the Swiss Army, which has regularly participated in Locked Shields since 2010, to strengthen its defense capacity. The army thus benefits from the experience and standards of other armed forces.
