The Occ’ygène Fund, associated with the EDF Group Foundation and the Essentiem fund, is today launching the “Outdoor nature for young people in Occitanie” program. Sport will be used in this context as the vector of awareness of ecology and climate change issues. Applications must be submitted before May 4, 2024.
In line with the objectives shared between the EDF Group Foundation et the Occ’ygène Fund, a call for applications to the “Outdoor nature for the young people of Occitanie” program is launched for the attention of targeted general interest organizations.
The projects presented must take the form of initiation days to sports practices within the framework of classified and/or protected natural areas, in the territory of the Occitanie region. They will include, on the one hand, a sports support by a specialized service provider and, on the other hand, a mediation ensured by an organization competent in the discovery and preservation of the local environment, biodiversity (fauna, flora), landscapes or natural resources and the teaching of good ecological practices. Sport will be used in this context as the vector of awareness of ecology and climate change issues.
« Because they are the custodians of tomorrow’s world, and because we protect what we love, and we love what we know, according to Jacques-Yves Cousteau, the young generations living in the region must be made aware of the protection of biodiversity and the fight once morest climate change in their own territory, through eco-citizen sporting behavior. In this perspective, I am delighted with the launch of this new action of the Occ’ygène Fund” precise Vincent Garel, President of CRTL Occitanie who adds that “this project also supports the development of positive tourism in social and environmental terms while creating solidarity and better sharing of ecological issues in our territories. It works for the acceptability of tourism by allowing residents to access the same leisure activities as visitors« .
