INE advances location of list of boxes
On February 24, the president of the INE, Lorenzo Córdova Vianello, announced that the System Locate your Box for the Revocation of Mandate will begin its operation this Saturday, March 26 and not on Monday 28 as planned.
During the extraordinary session of the Executive General Board, the head of the INE, Córdova specified that in the logic of “informing to combat disinformation and falsehoods”, it was important to emphasize that the electoral body does not hide the location of polling places.
And it is that the list, he said, is released 15 and not 13 days prior to the recall day, even recalling that more days are anticipated than in the case of the 2021 midterm elections, whose system began operating six days before , as established by the General Law of Electoral Institutions and Procedures (Legipe).
“In times of cheats and lies, it is worth reiterating that the INE works for citizens and generates the conditions for the free exercise of the vote,” added Córdova Vianello.
In addition to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, legislators and representatives of Morena, at different times accused the autonomous electoral body of “hiding the location of the polls.”
In the morning conference on March 17, López Obrador “respectfully asked the INE advisers to meet and define where the polling stations are going to be, because they are hiding them; that it be made known where the polls are going to be and that there are enough ballots, nothing that they are already sold out.
Regarding the electoral ballots, the INE advisers have made it clear that “there is an electoral ballot for each of the citizens who wish to participate.”
