The film “Regra 34”, by Brazilian director Julia Murat, won the first prize, the Golden Leopard, and will close the evening screenings on the Piazza Grande.

“This is an important Golden Leopard for Brazilian cinema, a nation that has written important pages in the history of world cinema. This national cinema is at the forefront of defending the idea of ​​a more inclusive and freer world,” said Giona A. Nazzaro, artistic director of the Festival in a press release on Saturday followingnoon.

In total, since August 3, 226 films have been programmed and 471 screenings carried out on the main square and in the cinemas of the Ticino city. “This year’s edition brought together the past and the future of cinema: a retrospective dedicated to Douglas Sirk, distinguished awards given to veterans like Costa-Gavras and young talents like Daisy Edgar-Jones,” writes the Festival.
