Localities cut off due to overflow of the Amana River in Anzoátegui

The Freites municipality of the state Anzoategui suffered the onslaught of the rains that caused the Amana River to overflow, landslides on roads, collapsed bridges and damaged homes.

Civil Protection and Firefighters are in the town of Mundo Nuevo, which was cut off following the infrastructure of the bridge that connects it to other areas collapsed.

Areas such as Urica, El Samán, El Amparo and other nearby areas were affected by the rainfall and their residents are crying out for help, said Oscar Briceño, whose family lives in Mundo Nuevo.

One of the bridges that collapsed was La Puerta, located in the state of Monagas, which is why traffic is interrupted.

There were also losses of household goods, people’s homes were damaged, and trees fell in the middle of roads.

Regional and security authorities quantified the losses and damages and began to provide relief to affected villages.

The highest authority of the Freites municipality is expected to report in detail on Wednesday on the current situation in Mundo Nuevo and adjacent areas.

Unofficially, it was learned that there are injured neighbors, some of whom were transferred to the capital of the municipality, Cantaura.

The Amana River rises in the Turimiquire mountain range and supplies water to these towns, which today suffer from the consequences of the rains.

Heavy rains caused flooding in the area.
