The Offenburg team will be playing in the 2nd Badminton Bundesliga on Saturday at the newly promoted TV Hofheim, which includes three former teammates, and on Sunday at the first division reserve of 1. BC Bischmisheim.
This weekend, BC Offenburg will begin its new season in the 2nd Badminton Bundesliga with two away games. A very special duel awaits the Ortenau team right at the start on Saturday (3 p.m.). TV Hofheim (Hesse) has been promoted back to the 2nd league after a year’s absence and will be playing this season with the three former BCO players Simon Discher, Sebastian and Johannes Grieser. It could even be a brotherly duel if Simon Discher from Hofheim and Johannes Discher from Offenburg face each other.
In addition to the departure of Simon Discher, Offenburg also has to cope with the retirement of Paloma Wich, who is hanging up her badminton racket for the time being. In return, young player Lina Berger is moving up to the second division team and will have to face strong opposing women right from the start. Together with Lena Reder, they will have to keep up with Mareike Bittner and Annika Dörr this weekend. Bittner became German champion in the U22 age group in 2022 and is about to make her league comeback after a long injury break, whereas Annika Dörr was a German national player until 2017.

The BCO men’s team has a full complement of players to choose from. In addition to the well-known players from recent years, new addition Niclas Kirchgessner from BSV Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen will strengthen the team in doubles and mixed doubles.
On Sunday (11 a.m.) the next strong opponent awaits the Offenburg team: 1. BC Bischmisheim II. The first division reserve team has been a bit of a surprise package for years because the squad is very broad. Last year the Saarbrücken team finished third in the table, which was mainly due to the good results of the Luxembourger Kim Schmidt, the former German national player Marcel Reuter and the Saarbrücken home-grown Jonas Scheller.
The Offenburg team is highly motivated and looking forward to exciting games in the 2nd Bundesliga, which will be broadcast live on Sportdeutschland.tv. The first home game in the Nord-West-Halle will take place on October 5th at 4:30 p.m.
