Local radio station 100.3 WKIT,Bangor’s beloved Rock station,was facing closure until a group of dedicated individuals stepped in. **Host:** So, how did Rock Lobster Radio come to be?
**Greg:** Well, Jeff and I have been friends for years, and we’ve always shared a passion for radio and for our community.When we heard about WKIT’s situation, we knew we had to do something. We realized that this station is more than just frequencies and music – it’s a vital part of Bangor’s identity.
**Host:** So, it was truly a community effort?
**Jeff:** Absolutely.Once the word got out, we had such an outpouring of support from local businesses, listeners, and even former WKIT employees. People were truly passionate about saving the station.
**Host:** And this resulted in the formation of Rock lobster Radio.
**Greg:** Correct! We created Rock Lobster Radio LLC specifically to purchase WKIT. It was a lot of work getting everything in place, but seeing the community rally behind us was astonishing.
**Host:** That’s splendid! So, what can listeners expect from WKIT under rock Lobster Radio’s ownership?
**Jeff:** We’re committed to keeping WKIT true to its roots. This means continuing to play the best rock music, supporting local artists, and engaging with the community that has come to love this station.
**Host:** This is truly a great story – a testament to the power of community and a shared love for music.
**Greg:** we couldn’t have done it without everyone stepping up. We are excited for the future of WKIT and can’t wait to continue bringing rock and roll to Bangor.
