PUBLIC POLICY OBSERVER Trubus Rahadiansyah assessed that the use of domestic products by regional governments (Pemda) is only 41 percent, which is the result of the government’s lack of assertiveness in carrying out supervision in each region regarding the use of domestic products.

So far, according to Trubus, both the president and the central government have only given appeals and warnings. There have been no strong sanctions for local governments if they do not use domestic products.

“All of this is due to the policies and regulations governing it. This is also the result of the government and the President himself not being firm, only reprimanding and giving advice without any sanctions or strict supervision,” said Trubus when contacted, Wednesday (10/7).

Trubus said, the regional government has its own regional autonomy. Of course, that makes the regional government free to use or buy any product freely.

Therefore, he said there needs to be strong regulation and supervision for regions in the use of products. If violations are found, of course the central government must impose sanctions on the region.

“Strengthen the regulations related to this and supervise them closely. If there are violations, the president must give strict sanctions, not just continuous warnings and reprimands. If there are only warnings and reprimands, there will be no improvement,” he said.

“Strict sanctions might be, for example, for regions that violate the rules, their DAU and DAK might be stopped, the regions would definitely be deterred if that happened,” he added.

It is known that previously, President Joko Widodo reprimanded regional governments that were still buying imported goods. He expressed this in front of regional heads at the XVI Apkasi National Working Meeting in 2024, Wednesday (10/7)

“The use of domestic products, this is what I checked, it is still at 41%. The use of domestic products is still 41% for districts and cities, 41% is still small, meaning that other than that, imported products,” said Jokowi.

Jokowi regrets the practice of using imported goods. Because, he considers collecting money from state revenues is very difficult, both taxes, PNBP, royalties and dividends. When collected, the Minister of Finance will transfer to the regions (TKD). (Fik/Z-7)
