St. Pölten (OTS) – Three farmers from Upper Austria have found out what it takes to successfully breed shrimp in Austria. They have set up their shrimp farm in Kremsmünster: sustainable, CO2-neutral and with high quality standards. The “White Tiger Shrimp” grow under optimal conditions in strictly controlled water quality. No antibiotics or other medications are used. The “Land and People” team in Kremsmünster looked at how this shrimp farming works with Andreas Fellner, Ulrich Weiss and Günter Mörtenhuber.
Further topics from “Land and People” on November 11th:
*Exceptional cultivation
In Styria, east of Graz, we were there harvesting ginger and turmeric. A family business here specializes in exotic plants, an exciting niche product.
*Sustainable favorites
The election for the 2023 “Land and People” favorite is going into the third round: with an energy-conscious farmer from Mieming in Tyrol, where dairy products are produced in an environmentally friendly way, with photovoltaics, pellet heating and reusable containers. And with a climate-conscious forester in St. Veit an der Glan in Carinthia.
*Farmer health in focus
Digitalization is becoming increasingly important in the healthcare system. When it comes to social insurance for the self-employed, which is also responsible for farmers, there are more and more services available via app.
