Study details

On the other hand, the professionals explained that the relevance of the research consists “in the fact that the PD represents a complication that can threaten the conservation of the foot and the life of the person, and that in the country we do not have local data for its approach” .

In this sense, the objective was to describe the characteristics of all the adults with diabetes who consulted for PD for 3 months and to evaluate their evolution at 6 months. After this time it was found that the percentage of major amputation was 8.33%, the percentage of healing 58% and the mortality 4.49%.

“Knowledge of local data will make it possible to improve decision-making in terms of health policies related to the prevention and treatment of people with PD,” the professionals said.

It is worth mentioning that the research team is made up of the dras. Gabriela Car, Gabriela Rodriguez Rey y Maria Laura Noli Medical Clinic, Graduate in Podiatry Mariana Fuentesand, of Traumatology, the Dr. Miguel Angel Ticona.
