The tax revenues of local authorities (CT) amounted to 3.3 billion dirhams (MMDH) at the end of February 2022, down 6.6% compared to their level at the end of February 2021, according to the General Treasury of the Kingdom (TGR).
This decrease covers the 15.5% drop in direct taxes and 3.3% in indirect taxes, specifies the TGR in its recent monthly bulletin of local finance statistics (BMSFL), noting that tax revenues constituted 88.8 %% of overall TC revenue.
Standing at more than 2 billion dirhams, the resources transferred show a decrease of 4.7%, due to the reduction in the share of CTs in the VAT product (-105 million dirhams). 56.5% of CT receipts are made up of their share in VAT proceeds.
As for the resources managed by the State on behalf of the local authorities, they decreased by 31.3% to 354 MDH, coming from the reduction in the municipal services tax (-106 MDH), the professional tax (-50 MDH) and housing tax (-5 MDH).
Resources managed by local authorities amounted to 1,238 MDH at the end of February 2022 once morest 1,147 MDH recorded a year earlier, up 7.9%. They consist largely of revenue from the tax on unbuilt urban land (448 MDH), state revenue (128 MDH), tax on construction operations (98 MDH) and the temporary occupation fee of the communal public domain (92 MDH).
The TGR also indicates that the evolution of the structure of the resources of local authorities between the end of February 2021 and the end of February 2022 shows an increase in the share of resources managed by local authorities, combined with a decrease in the share of resources managed by the State and transferred resources.
