Local 10 News Day of Giving: Help Feed South Florida Families in Need

The Day of Giving: A Local 10 News Food Drive

Well, folks, gather ’round because we’re about to delve into something
that’s not just your run-of-the-mill Tuesday night takeout story: the
Day of Giving from Local 10 News in Miami! For a solid
11 years—yes, that’s longer than most of my relationships—this channel
has been diligently working to keep our local food pantries stocked
and our bellies full—at least for the folks that need it.

What’s Cooking on the Day of Giving?

Mark your calendars, set your alarms, and please, for the love of all
that is dietary—do not forget the Day of Giving will
occur this Friday, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. That’s right, a full day of
fun, frolic, and food donation! Now, you might be thinking, “Why do I
have to care?” Well, here’s the deal: local news isn’t just about
the traffic reports that make you contemplate reverting to cycling on
the sidewalk. It’s about giving back, especially around the holidays,
when the pantries are emptier than your fridge after a Netflix binge.

Where to Be and What to Do

You want to join in on this food frenzy? Of course, you do! Here’s
where the Local 10 News team will be, spreading love (and canned goods)
across beautiful South Florida:

  • 6 a.m. – Publix, Pembroke Pines: Kristi Krueger and
Jenise Fernandez will be there bright and early. Hope they’ve had
    their coffee!
  • 9 a.m. – Publix, Kendall: Andrew Perez and the folks
from Joshua’s Heart Foundation will be on site. They’re like the
Avengers of food donations—saving the day, one non-perishable at a
    time.
  • 11 a.m. – Publix, Hollywood: The dynamic duo, Hughes
and Perez, will assist The Caring Place in receiving some generous donations.
It’s like a food concert, and you are definitely the VIP!
  • 3 p.m. – Publix, Miami Shores: Closing out the event,
Louis Aguirre and Alex Finnie will be helping Make-A-Wish veterans.
Talk about multitasking—collecting food while practicing their best
    delivery for the evening news!

How Can You Contribute?

Do you want to throw your hat in the ring? Or should we say,
“throw your cans in the cart”? Any generous soul can swing by any of the
six Publix locations throughout the day. If you can spare some
spaghetti, soup, or cereal, just know it could mean the difference
between someone’s stomach going growl or, well, just doing what
stomachs do best—growling at 2 a.m. when you’re trying to sleep!

If You Want to Make a Difference

Don’t hesitate! This is your chance to step up and help out. Let’s
spread some joy this holiday season! And trust me, if there was ever
a time to channel your inner saint, it’s now. Plus, doing good often
means you can justify binging on holiday goodies later—karma, baby!

So, will you join in on the Day of Giving and show some love to
our local pantries? After all, it’s the thought that counts—
just think of it as your good deed for the day. Or, better yet,
your good deed for the year! Now that’s something to smile about.
See you in the aisles!
