Gustavo Fernández lost today Japanese front Tokito Oda 6-2, 4-6 and 7-5 following 2 hours and 7 minutes of play in one of the adapted tennis semifinals of the Australian Open, first Grand Slam of the season.
The 29-year-old Argentine, second seeded in the tournament, he fell to the third favourite, just 16 years old, who is celebrating his absolute debut in major competitions at Melbourne Park.
Fernández, who received the year admitted to a Buenos Aires clinic due to an infection in the larynx, might not reach his fourth final in the Aus Open, which he won in 2017 and 2019.

Zeballos, born in Mar del Plata 37 years ago, and Granollers, a 36-year-old Catalanthey fell 6-4 and 6-2 once morest Hijikata (21) and Kubler (29) in 82 minutes of play, in the second consecutive semifinal lost by the duo in Melbourne.
Finalists at the 2019 US Open and 2021 Wimbledon, Zeballos and Granollers lost the 2022 semifinal in Australia also to a local pairing of Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis who went on to win the tournament.
Although they had never played together until this tournament, Hijikata-Kubler had eliminated top seeds Wesley Koolhof of the Netherlands and Neal Skupski of Britain in the quarterfinals.

Now the locals will play the final once morest the Polish duo made up of Huho Nys and Jan Zielinski, who beat the French Jeremy Chardy and Fabrice Martin 6-3, 5-7 and 6-2 in one hour and 48 minutes of play.
