Already increased on February 1, 2022, the Livret A rate might be raised once more on August 1. If inflation remains unchanged, this rate might rise from 1% to 1.90%.

The passbook A rate is generally calculated according to the annual inflation observed over the last six months, from which the average interbank rate is subtracted. Therefore, the rate of the booklet A revised on February 1 might once more be revalued or even doubled on August 1, as reported

Indeed, if the inflation observed in April is maintained in May and June, the average of the annual price increases over the last six months would be 4.27%, according to our colleagues. Similarly, if the average interbank rate remains stable at -0.57%, the new Livret A account should rise from 1% to 1.90%.

A decision by the Governor of the Banque de France

If we take the average of the funds present by livret A in France, i.e. 5,500 euros, this new rate adopted on August 1, 2022 would lead to an increase in interest of 4.125 euros monthly, or 49.50 euros per year, according to our colleagues.

This revaluation of the Livret A rate is left to the discretion of the Governor of the Banque de France. If it decides on such an increase, the latter will have to submit it to the government. It will then be up to the Minister of the Economy to validate it.
