Artem noted that his loved ones had been telling him to stop using drugs for a long time, but he thought he didn’t have long to live, so he didn’t really listen to their words.

“Then I stopped using substances, I work at the New Life Foundation, here I met my future wife, we have a healthy, wonderful son. Home, work – everything is great. I fully accepted the diagnosis when I stopped thinking that everyone around me was looking at me and thinking: “Here comes HIV.” My wife and I live with an open face—telling our story to make it easier for others to cope. I have not faced any condemnation due to my diagnosis. HIV is just a chronic disease, there is treatment, doctors, an AIDS Center, help,” he adds.

Next in the circle is Kostya. He appears to be HIV positive and has been living with the virus for nine years. Kostya learned regarding the diagnosis in the hospital, where he woke up following another overdose. I was already preparing for discharge, the doctor informed me regarding HIV infection and said that I urgently needed to go to the AIDS Center. Given his lifestyle, this was not a shock for the guy, but for the first two years he did not take therapy.
