Dementia at 46 – How a woman from Freital loses her husband a little more every day

Uwe Klotz is one of the almost 100,000 people in Germany who suffer from dementia at a young age. His wife Silke would like to have him around for as long as possible – she has given up a lot for this.

A reminder of the time when her world was still in order hangs in large format on the wall above the sofa. It’s a wedding photo, taken 13 years ago. Silke Klotz wears an ankle-length white dress, her long dark hair falls over her shoulders. A radiantly beautiful bride. The groom looks cool in his gray suit. Both look happy. “Uwe and I, that was great love. Unfortunately, we were only able to experience them for such a short time,” says Silke Klotz.
