30 new, subsidized apartments between 54 and 92 square meters and a kindergarten for six groups are currently being built in the park of the listed Poschachervilla not far from Linz’s Bulgariplatz. The GWG project, for which the topping-out ceremony was celebrated this week, should be completed in the summer of next year.
The facility will be built according to the plans of Hertl Architekten, who won the architectural competition. The residential building has five floors, the child care facility will be realized in a two-storey building.
All apartments have a loggia, those on the ground floor have a terrace and their own garden. Due to the ecological construction of the GWG, the energy costs are low. The heating is provided by district heating. All living areas are barrier-free accessible. Each apartment is assigned an underground parking space, the connection to the public transport network is optimal with a five-minute walk to the Bulgariplatz stop. Shops, schools and kindergartens as well as a youth center are also in the immediate vicinity.
“Short distances guaranteed”
For City Councilor Dietmar Prammer (SP), the GWG facility is a showcase project because not only living space, but also social infrastructure for the urgently needed kindergarten is being created. “This guarantees short distances for the little residents.”
For the two GWG managing directors Nikolaus Stadler and Wolfgang Steiger, the project is characterized by its proximity to the city center and its location in the immediate vicinity of the Poschachervilla. This would create a special ambience.
