Liverpool’s dreams of winning the title are fading… West Ham deepens the Reds’ wounds

England – Liverpool fell into a draw against its host West Ham United (2-2) in the match that brought them together yesterday, Saturday, at the opening of the 35th round of the English Premier League.

Striker Jarrod Bowen put the hosts ahead with a goal in the 43rd minute of the first half.

Liverpool responded with two consecutive goals, the first scored by Scottish full-back Andrew Robertson in the 48th minute, while the second came with “friendly fire” scored by French goalkeeper Alphonse Areola in the 65th minute through an own goal.

Jamaican striker Michel Antonio snatched the equalizer for West Ham in the 77th minute of the match.

This draw tastes like defeat for the Liverpool team, which was enough for one point to raise its score to 75 points, and remained in third place in the “Premier League” league table, and it seems that it has largely dropped out of the race to compete for the “Premier League” title.

Liverpool is one point behind Manchester City, the defending champion, who occupies second place on the standings with 76 points, and has two matches in hand, and two points behind leaders Arsenal, before its match against Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow, Sunday.

On the other hand, West Ham United raised its score to 49 points, and occupies eighteenth place in the standings, awaiting the results of the rest of the matches of this round.
