Liverpool win their first trophy of the season against Man City: Haaland misses the unmissable (videos)

Thanks to goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold (21st), Mohammed Salah (83rd) and Darwin Nunez (90th+4), Liverpool won the 100th Community Shield 3-1 at the expense of Manchester City on Saturday in Leicester. Among the Citizens, Kevin De Bruyne was replaced in the 73rd.

For this first match of the season, Jurgen Klopp counted on Nunez, his new center forward bought this summer for 75 million from Benfica. However, the first big action of the Reds was dictated by Salah (3rd). The Liverpool defense also had a heat stroke when a De Bruyne shot was deflected by Virgil van Dijk (7th). The dangerous situations had multiplied when Alexander-Arnold opened the scoring with a curling shot from the right deflected by Nathan Aké (21st).

De Bruyne (24th), Riyad Mahrez (30th), Erling Haaland (33rd) launched the revolt but Adrian and the Reds defense repelled all attacks. The Reds goalkeeper shone once more by fending off a strike from Mahrez (46th) with both hands.

If they continued at the same pace, the Citizens were however not very mobile and Ederson saved them a second goal when Nunez appeared alone in front of him (63rd). The Sky Blues continued their offensive and were rewarded with a goal from Julian Alvarez, canceled at first by the referee (70th, 1-1). The suspense was short-lived as Salah restored the lead to the Liverpuldiens on a penalty awarded for a handball by Ruben Diaz (70th, 2-1).

The Reds then let the Citizens come before Nunez confirmed their success (90th + 4, 3-1).

Haaland will still have had the opportunity to reduce the score but his shot shattered on the crossbar (90th + 8).
