Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Liverpool announced, on Friday, the signing of a new “long-term” contract with the star of the Egyptian team, Mohamed Salah, who joined Liverpool in 2017.
“After 5 years with the club, Salah will now extend his stay at Anfield, during which he has so far scored an impressive 156 goals in 254 games,” the club said in a statement on its website. The club added that Salah “dedicated his future to the Reds”, and the club did not reveal the duration of the new contract for Salah.
The club statement quoted Salah as saying: “I feel great, and I am excited to win titles with the club. It’s a happy day for everyone.” “I think the renewal is taking some time, but now everything is done, so we just need to focus on the next step.”
Salah continued, “I think you can see in the last five or six years the team has always been advancing. Last season we were close to winning four trophies, but unfortunately in the last week of the season we lost two.”
Salah considered that Liverpool “is in a good position to fight for all the championships.” “We have new signings too,” he said. “We just need to keep working hard, have a good vision, be positive and go for everything once more.”
Salah addressed his speech to the Liverpool fans, saying: “My message to the fans is that the players of the team want to give our best in the next season to try to win all the titles.” “As always, you stay behind us and give us a huge boost and I’m sure we will win trophies once more together.”
