Denis Zakaria’s next move may well be the most important of his career. He wanted to get away from the comforts of Gladbach – where he became a celebrity. And, now he has the ultimate chance to do so.
According to Shrager, the options currently on the table are Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool. With four of these tempting options in their own right, the choice will be difficult. And that’s even if Gladbach allows Zakaria to leave this month. Either way, it’s best to weigh the options.
Starting with Liverpool – a team that might need a reliable midfielder – Zakaria is fortunate enough to join a team that is looking for trophies, but, as a result, a team with a lot of competition. He will compete with Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson, among others.
Then there’s Manchester United, who arguably need a player like Zakaria more than they need. He’s fortunate enough to help right a sinking ship and be a part of what could turn out to be a promising project.
Or, it could be Germany waiting. Dortmund and Bayern both present lucrative destinations. But only one is full of trophies – potentially presenting Zakaria with a tough choice when or, if, it all comes down to this month.
