Reportedly, English Premier League giants Liverpool have acquired Argentinian midfielder Alexis McAllister. Transfer journalist Pedro Almeda tweeted that the negotiations regarding the transfer have been completed. McAllister currently plays for Brighton FC. Brighton were asking up to 70 million pounds for the player.

Chelsea, Manchester United from the Premier League and Barcelona from La Liga were also in the field for McAllister. McAllister was a key figure in the Argentine team that won the World Cup in Qatar. Meanwhile, renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano says that negotiations regarding the contract are not yet settled.

Coach Jurgen Klopp and the management are planning to clear the midfield with four leading players including Roberto Firmino leaving the arena. Apart from McAllister, the management also has plans to bring in English defensive midfielder Declan Rice. Chelsea is also on the scene for Rice.

In addition to Firmino, who has been with the team since 2015, Guinean midfielder Naby Keita, English players James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will also leave the team, Liverpool announced in a statement yesterday. All four played a crucial role in winning the Champions League title in 2019.

Alongside Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, Firmino has scored 80 goals in 254 appearances for the club. Milner, who arrived from Manchester City, made 330 appearances for the club. Kaita joined from RB Leipzig in 2018 and has scored 11 goals in 129 games. But he played only 12 matches this season. Chamberlain didn’t get much of a chance to play either. The player who arrived from Arsenal in 2017 has made 146 appearances for the club.

This poor performance this season has prompted the Liverpool management to make major changes. Liverpool are currently fifth in the Premier League points table with 65 points.
