Dr. Atthavit Panichkul, a gastroenterologist and hepatologist at Surat Thani Cancer Hospital, Department of Medical Services, said that liver cancer patients who seek treatment often come with severe symptoms or may have advanced to the final stage, which is difficult to completely cure and can be life-threatening. It is recommended to have regular health check-ups, especially for those at risk. “Check early, treat early, and have a chance to be completely cured.” However, prevention is the best method, such as vaccinating people who have never been vaccinated against hepatitis and do not have immunity, regularly screening for hepatitis virus and liver cancer markers in people at risk. People at risk may need to have a liver ultrasound every 6 months, as diagnosed by a doctor. Take care of yourself by eating a healthy diet with all 5 food groups in appropriate amounts, eating vegetables, fruits, exercising regularly, losing weight, and avoiding alcohol and smoking. These things not only help reduce the risk of liver cancer, but also serve as a shield to protect against other diseases.
