The commission chaired by Congressman Héctor Ventura, of Fuerza Popular, will meet from 9 am in a blended manner to collect responses from Paredes. Last week it was attended by the first lady, Lilia Paredes, but she chose to remain silent and did not answer any of the almost 30 questions that were put to her.
The case starring the president’s sister-in-law was revealed by “Fourth estate” last July 3. That program showed videos in which he appears Yenifer Paredes offering a public work accompanied by the manager of the company JJM Espino Engineering & Construction SAC, Hugo Espino Lucana.
That time, Anguía’s neighbors identified her as the president’s daughter and thanked her for guaranteeing them the performance of a work in the community. Meanwhile, she did not specify whether she spoke on behalf of the Government or JJM Espino, although she wore a vest with the name and logo of that company.
Recently, Yenifer Paredes admitted to the prosecution that she worked for JJM Espino when she appeared before Anguía’s neighbors. That statement supported the thesis of the Public Ministry, which aims to detect alleged influence peddling, criminal lawyers explained to El Comercio.
Businessman Hugo Espino, who is included in the tax investigations for this case, has visited the Government Palace at least five times during Castillo’s administration, according to the Presidency’s entry and exit register.
Espino recently said in an interview with Successful who has known Yenifer Paredes since 2019and that he began receiving his services the following year.
Regarding his presence in Anguía with Yenifer Paredes last September, he assured: “What I went to do in the district of Chadín, in two communities, was a field visit to be able to present an economic proposal to the municipality. It would depend on the entity that reviews and, if I meet the requirements, the municipality may indicate that I can prepare the technical file.” He added, however, that no technical file was prepared and no payments were made to your company.
