Live ticker: Zandvoort home win by Max Verstappen? / Formula 1

Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen starts as a favorite in Zandvoort’s home game. But the defending champion has the Ferrari drivers breathing down his neck. This is the live ticker for the 15th showdown of the season.

After the first attempt at Q3, Charles Leclerc was still ahead, but in the end Max Verstappen was the beaming pole setter in Zandvoort. The world championship leader showed nerves of steel and secured the best starting position for his home game with a strong lap – with a wafer-thin lead of 21 thousandths of a second.

The Dutchman still has no easy task to achieve his tenth win of the season. Because the two Ferrari stars Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz start next to and behind him. Lewis Hamilton is waiting for his chance on grid position 4. The seven-time world champion didn’t get a chance to finish his last fast lap, which was promising, in the final practice session. This is because Sergio Pérez caused yellow flags with a spin in the last sector.

The Mexican ranks in position 5. George Russell, Lando Norris, Mick Schumacher, Yuki Tsunoda and Lance Stroll complete the top 10 on the grid. Sebastian Vettel has to start from the last row of the grid because he lost control of his rear end in the second Q1 attempt in the last corner. He later realized that this was due to the sand that his Aston Martin teammate Lance Stroll had brought onto the track by riding out.

If you don’t want to miss how the 15th race of the year is developing, you can follow the action here in the live ticker from SPEEDWEEK.com.
