The second edition of the Live /s Live festival, the first in the Middenvijver park on the Linkeroever in Antwerp, attracted 30,000 music lovers this weekend, according to the organizers. With 17,500 visitors, Saturday’s day, headlined by The War on Drugs, was a resounding success.
After a first edition in Zeebrugge last year, which welcomed some 20,000 visitors over three days, Live /s Live erected its stages in Antwerp this year.
Saturday, Warpaint, Whitney and The War on Drugs, but also the Belgians Balthazar and Sylvie Kreusch, followed one another on stage. The War on Drugs delighted audiences, taking advantage of the darkness that reigned over the plain: an atmospheric light show backed up a set lasting over an hour and a half filled with hits such as “Under The Pressure” and ” I Don’t Live Here Anymore”.
On the new second stage, the Dageraad, visitors were able to enjoy artists such as Jasmine Jethwa and Indigo Sparke, among others, and sing along with Novastar.
On Sunday, the britpop group Suede, then the “indie darlings” of Belle & Sebastian tried to move an audience chilled by the heat. Deus then played at home for his only spell at a Flemish festival this summer. The day ended with a concert by the legendary Grace Jones.
The next edition of the Live /s Live festival will be held on June 29 and 30, 2024.
