Leonard Chemotai (Uganda) clinched the world championship title despite a whoop: He thought he had already crossed the finish line following the first 7.5-kilometre lap. However, he was informed in good time that he had to climb the mountain once more. Silver went to Ombogo Kiriago Philemon (KEN), bronze to Filimon Abraham from Germany.
