Live: inflation May 2022 in Colombia | Economy

The Dane revealed this Saturday that inflation in Colombia in May registered a correction and shows a slight moderation. According to the entity, the annual variation in May was 9.07%.

In April, the data of the annual variation was 9.23%, the highest in 21 years.

For its part, the monthly variation for May was 0.84%, while the variation for the year to date (January-May) was 6.55%.

However, compared to the figure for May 2021, the annual variation of the CPI for 2022 was 5.77 percentage points higher than that reported a year ago, when it was 3.30%.

According to the Dane, in May the division Food and non-alcoholic beverages registered a monthly variation of 1.56%, and was the one that contributed the most to the figure for the month.

The second division with the most contribution was restaurants and hotels, which registered a monthly variation of 1,18%.

In May 2022, the largest price increases were registered in the subclasses meals prepared outside the home for immediate consumption (1.36%), meals in table-service and self-service establishments (1.21%) and expenses in nightclubs (1.10%).

On the other side of the scale, the greatest decrease in price was reported in the subclass services of hotel accommodation (-0.26%).

The division Information and communication registered a monthly variation of -0.05%, the smallest of the month. In May 2022, the largest price decrease was registered in the subclass of mobile telephony equipment, similar and repair (-0.81%).
