The organizing committee of the “Liwa Date Festival” awarded the winners of the 20th edition of the Al-Athaq Al-Akbar (Biggest Date) competition in the city of Liwa in the Al Dhafra region. The event was organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority Hosted in a strategic partnership with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), it will run until July 28.
Festival Director Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei and Festival Dates and Fruit Decoration Director Mubarak Ali Al Qasili Al Mansouri were crowned winners of the competition. Finishing third, Mohammed Ateeq Mohammed Atshan Al Hameli finished fifth.
The festival continues to receive entries from farmers in its daily competitions, among which the mango competition received entries in the “Local and Varieties” category of the fruit competition, with 10 prizes allocated to each category with a total value of 234,000. The first prize winner will be AED 25,000 will be awarded, the second place winner will receive AED 20,000 and the third place winner will receive AED 15,000.
Yesterday, the festival received entries for the “Al-Dabbas” auction, among which 25 prizes were allocated with a total value of AED 446,000.
