“It was a whirlwind! We had planned to meet up with family at a lake, but Schlap, ever the adventurer, suggested we get married the day before. We talked about it for a second, and I was like, ‘Why not?!’ I mean, it sounds crazy now, but it felt so right in the moment. We just booked a room in Vegas and went for it! It was spontaneous,simple,and absolutely perfect.”
We imagine your bandmates were surprised! Did anyone know about this before today?
“Only a handful of people knew—Karen fairchild, my sister, and Schlap, of course. It was our little secret for years. I think they were all as shocked as everyone else when I announced it on TV. But now that the cat’s out of the bag, we are all having a good laugh about it.”
Why do you think keeping it a secret for so long was important to you both?
