In the area of the factory covering almost 5 hectares, the entire infrastructure was renewed, new buildings with the most modern food production equipment were built, and even three separate production workshops were installed for the production of different fish products, which are already exported to 15 countries today. According to the company’s founder and shareholder Sigitas Ambrazevičius, almost eighty million euros have been invested in the most modern fish products factory in Eastern Europe, and almost 800 jobs will be created in the future.
“Today we are witnessing what can be done in three years, with strong belief in the business idea, sincere work and love for cooking. It is from here, the port of Liepaja, that our products are already exported not only to neighboring countries, but also to countries that are far away from Lithuania,” says S. Ambrazevičius.
From 2021 almost 80 million has already been invested. euros
The Port Lite production area has been reconstructed and renovated in several stages of development since 2021. According to S. Ambrazevičius, the total total investment is close to 80 million. euros.
“In 2021 after purchasing the historic fish processing and product production buildings with the equipment in them from the (LTKB) Bank administrator, we first of all started to update the existing equipment and buildings so that we could immediately start the production of fish products – the production of shrimp and surimi crab sticks. So, in the same year 2021, “Port Lite” products ended up on the shelves of Lithuanian supermarkets. Accordingly, several more stages of development followed in 2022, 2023. and 2024, during which we reconstructed all existing structures, built new buildings, acquired the latest equipment, increased the production scale, industrial capacity and developed all three production workshops, investing about 80 million. euros”, says the founder of the company.
There are 3 main workshops with state-of-the-art equipment
During the three-year investment, the company even established three separate production workshops equipped with the most modern food production equipment in the territory of the former factory in Latvia. According to S. Ambrazevičius, different fish products are produced in them – from surimi, such as crab sticks, shrimp, to salmon products.
“By optimizing the operation of the factory, we aimed to ensure that every product we produce is of high quality, enriched with nutrients and has a naturally expressive taste. This has resulted in our fish production studio consisting of three separate and unique workshops: crab sticks, shrimp and salmon. All this ensures fast production of products and high quality standards, which are supported by the most advanced equipment of Marel, Reich, Multivac manufacturers used in the factory. With its help, we can process 25 thousand tons of salmon raw materials per year,” says S. Ambrazevičius.
S. Ambrazevičius adds that such rapid development of Port Lite is rapidly growing the ranks of employees, which will continue to grow quite significantly: “Today, we already have about 200 employees who are responsible for various areas. However, looking into the near future, we can say that these ranks will grow to almost 800.”
Long-term experience is an advantage
S. Ambrazevičius, the founder and shareholder of Port Lite, manages several businesses in Lithuania related to the production, trade, and transportation of fish products. The businessman owns a fish products company in Šilute, Dauparu žuvis, a logistics and frozen fish trading company in Klaipėda, Benko, and part of the company Kaminatrans.
