The Lithuanian authorities completely refused to import Russian electricity. The corresponding decision came into force on Sunday, May 22, writes TASS with reference to the Ministry of Energy of the Republic.
“According to the decision of the operator of the electricity exchange Nord Pool, trading in electricity generated in Russia, which was carried out by Inter RAO (through Inter RAO’s subsidiary Lietuva – ed.), is terminated,” follows from the message of the agency.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Energy noted that last year the republic imported 17% of electricity from the Russian Federation for domestic consumption. Now the country will arrange the supply of resources from neighboring Latvia, Poland and Sweden.
