E. Baliutytė-Riliškienė was born in 1954. Paliūnai, Lazdijai district. In 1977, she graduated from Vilnius University, where she studied Lithuanian language and literature. Since 1977, he worked at the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore.

In her works, she was interested in the history and theories of literary criticism, Soviet-era culture and literature, and contemporary Lithuanian literature.

Wrote the monographs “Soviet Lithuanian poetry during the Great Patriotic War” (1985), “Hostess of Time and Partner: Lithuanian literary criticism 1945-2000”, (2002), “Eduards Mieželaitis between East and West: a walk with Walt Whitman and a meeting with Allen Ginsberg “(2019).

One of the last works of the literary scholar was the compilation of four volumes of poetry by Justin Marcinkevičius and the introductory text accompanying this set of ten Selected Volumes. Today, the literary scholar spoke about this work of hers and J. Marcinkevčius’ evaluations in her last interview published in 15 min.

E.Baliutytė-Riliškienė wrote several books of poetry, including J.Aistis’s “Užgesę chimeras akys” (2005), VAJonynas’s “Rinktiniai rastai” (2006), V. Braziūnas’s “Vakar yra rytoj” (2007), E. Mieželaitis’s ” Baroque lyre” (2009), “Eduardas Mieželaitis: poems” (2016), “Shermukšnis. Pylimo gatvė”, VPBlože’s “Painting restoration” (both 2017), P. Širvi’s “Under the shimmering helmet of constellations” (2019).

She has also written scientific articles, book reviews and literature reviews.

in 2019 the literary scholar was awarded the V. Kubiliaus prize.
