The horror film Siksa Kubur by director Joko Anwar received the most nominations at the 2024 Indonesian Film Festival (FFI), with 17 nominations. The announcement of the 2024 FFI nominations was made in Yogyakarta and broadcast online on the FFI Instagram account and YouTube channel on Friday (18/10) evening.
Of the 17 nominations, Siksa Kubur was nominated for best film, best director (Joko Anwar), best female lead (Faradina Mufti), best male lead (Reza Rahadian), and best original screenwriter (Joko Anwar). Siksa Kubur also won nominations for best male supporting actor (Slamet Rahardjo) and best female supporting actor (Widuri Puteri).
Budi Pekerti (Wregas Bhanuteja), Wanita Tanah Jahanam (Joko Anwar), and the Copy of Light (Wregas Bhanuteja) also won 17 nominations out of a total of 23 FFI nominations.
Following Siksa Kubur, at FFI 2024 the second most nominations were filled by the film Kabut Berduri by Edwin. This film is also included in the main nominations such as best film, best director, best female lead (Putri Marino), best male lead (Yoga Pratama), and best original screenplay (Ifan Ismail). Berduri Kabut also received a nomination for best male supporting actor (Lukman Sardi).
Meanwhile, Falling in Love Like in the Films (Jesedef) by Yandy Laurens received 11 FFI 2024 nominations and also received nominations in the main categories in best film, best director, best female lead (Nirina Zubir), best male lead (Ringgo Agus Rahman) , and best original screenwriter (Yandy Laurens). Jesedef also received nominations for best supporting actor for male and female, for the roles of Alex Abbad and Sheila Dara.
“This year the number of works registered has increased significantly. “This shows the extraordinary enthusiasm of filmmakers to participate in FFI 2024. The judging system involves various components of the ecosystem, including initial selection, representatives of film associations, members of the Citra Academy, nomination jury and the Final Jury,” said Chairman of the FFI 2024 Judging Committee Budi Irawanto in opening announcement for the 2024 FFI nomination night which was broadcast on FFI YouTube, Friday (18/10).
“In general, there is an increase in technical quality, courage to explore various themes, and awareness of raising important discourse through the medium of film. “In this way, there are efforts by filmmakers to hone their sensibilities and broaden the horizons of knowledge of Indonesian society and culture,” continued Budi.
