Lisbon, 2nd destination for Azul’s A350s

The airline company low cost Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras will link next summer São Paulo To Lisbon both in Airbus A330neo and in A350-900with the latter only rolling out to Orlando so far.

From August 2, 2023 and until the end of the summer season according to Aeroroutes, the Brazilian budget flight specialist will offer five of its 13 weekly flights between Sao-Paulo-Campinas Viracopos and the airport of Lisbonne-Humberto Delgado in A350-900 configured to accommodate 33 passengers in Business class, 99 in Economy Plus and 202 in Economy (334 seats), rather than in A330-200 or -900 with 249 and 298 seats respectively.

Departures from Brazil in the A350 will then be scheduled for Monday and Saturday at 5:15 p.m. (arrival the next day at 7:00 a.m.), Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. (arrival the next day at 8:00 a.m.), Thursday at 10:05 p.m. next day at 11 a.m.). A350 returns will depart Portugal Monday at 1:00 p.m. (7:10 p.m. arrival), Tuesday and Sunday at 10:00 a.m. (4:05 p.m. arrival), Thursday at 11:00 a.m. (5:05 p.m. arrival) and Friday at 2:00 p.m. (8:10 p.m. arrival). All other rotations will then be done in A330neo.

Azul competes between the two cities with TAP Air Portugal, which serves Guarulhos airport and with which it shares its codes.

The low cost received last September and December two of the five A350-900s expected since 2014, all ex-Hong Kong Airlines leased by Airbus. It also operates five long-haul A330-200s, and five of the eight A330-900s expected. It also has 39 ATR 72-600 (four more ordered), 49 A320neosix A321neos, and fifteen Embraer E195-E2s (60 more expected).
