The superstar Lionel Messi who returned to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) following the World Cup victory was warmly welcomed by his teammates and club officials.
Messi also went to Argentina with the team. The actor joined the club following a 10-day holiday. Messi was welcomed by his teammates at PSG’s training center with a guard of honour. The video of this was released by the club through its social media account. Club advisor Luis Campos also presented a special gift to the player.
The actor returned to Paris with his family on Monday following participating in the victory parade and victory celebration with the Argentinian players. Club coach Christophe Galtier had already said that Messi will return in early January following celebrating Christmas and New Year at home with his family.
There are also reports that Messi will extend his contract with the club until 2024. As part of preparing a new contract, the player will hold talks with the club officials in the coming days. PSG entered the field without Messi in the two matches of the French League One following the World Cup.
PSG lost to RC Lens in their first match of the new year. PSG is losing following 32 matches in League One. PSG is the first in the league with 44 points. Lens is second with 40 points.
After a long wait of 36 years, Argentina won the World Cup by defeating France in a penalty shootout in the final of the Qatar World Cup.
