Now that all Corona rules have finally been lifted, the Linz Summer of Culture is celebrating a strong comeback: the people of Linz can look forward to numerous open-air concerts, festivals and new formats. We give an overview of the colorful program.

With numerous open-air events – some with free admission – summer in Linz will be anything but boring this year. “Linz is once once more the open-air capital this summer,” emphasizes City Councilor Doris Lang-Mayerhofer. alone in Music pavilion will host 38 free events from June 8th to August 14th instead of. The open-air stage on the Donaulände experienced a real comeback in Corona times as one of the few places that might offer a program.
Varied program in the music pavilion
Freshly renovated, it is home to numerous local acts this year and offers a particularly varied program with some new collaborations. Cooperation with the association junq.at, which presents young, local bands every Wednesday in June, has proven successful, including Hikee Bikini (June 8) and Bad Karma Club (June 15). For the second time this year, Jazzpoint Linz focuses on female jazz musicians from Austria every Sunday. Fans of brass bands also get their money’s worth – various Linz formations play on Thursdays. The two curators Sarah Lang and Eva Falb have got involved in a whole new genre this year: On June 22nd it will be wild and punky at the evening organized in cooperation with the Linz association SBÄM.
SBÄM festival for the first time in Linz
The Linz label is also organizing this for the first time this year SBÄM festival in Linz. Point fans should therefore mark July 30th and 31st in red on their calendars. The headliners for the festival in the tobacco factory are Dropkick Murphys, Pennywise and the German “veterans” from WIZO. A total of 30 international acts will rock the stage over the two days. A festival pass costs 133 euros, and day passes are also available for 82 euros.
Ahoy! Pop festival and fresh air stage in the Posthof
After a two-year break, the popular Ahoi! Pop festival – organized by the Posthof – back to the Linzer Donaulände. The prepared line-up was taken over: This time Sido comes to Stahlstadt without a mask on July 6th. Also there: Wanda on July 9th and the guys from “Element of Crime” on July 10th. The Posthof team has also decided to revive the successful “emergency concept” of the fresh air stage this year. In the summer months, people play outside there. Cobblestone spectacle and classical music at the cathedral
In its original form, with a few additional locations, the popular one also announces itself pavement spectacle back once more this year. International street art will conquer the city from July 21st to 23rd. With free entry, visitors can look forward to high-class acrobatics, theatre, dance and music. Another highlight in Linz’s calendar of events are the top-class concerts at “Klassik am Dom”. In July, greats such as opera star Elīna Garanča (July 7), counter-virtuoso David Garrett (July 22 and 23) and James Blunt (July 15) perform in the atmospheric ambience in front of St. Mary’s Cathedral.
