Tingsryd’s Linus Hedman was injured after a tackle at the start of the derby against Nybro and was taken to hospital after nearly 30 minutes of treatment on the ice.

– I have received confirmation that he was awake and talkative, says Tingsryd’s sports manager Patric Larsson.

The match was canceled and was not played further during the evening.

The match between Nybro and Tingsryd was a little more than four minutes old when Linus Hedman was tackled over. The helmet flew off the Tingsrydsspelaren who landed badly and was lying down.

The game was stopped shortly afterwards, a stretcher was brought out and after a while some teammates held up a coffin while Hedman received treatment.

After five minutes it was announced that the match would be temporarily suspended and a few minutes later an ambulance was driven onto the ice.

After nearly 30 minutes of treatment on the ice, Hedman was brought into the ambulance on a stretcher and applause broke out in the stands, writes The barometer.

Banner held up

A banner was also held up in the stands with the text “Get on you #88”.

Hedman has been taken to hospital in Kalmar for further examinations. About 45 minutes after the impact, it was announced that the match was canceled completely and will be played on another day.

Tingsryd’s sports director Patric Larsson tells Sportbladet that all parties were unanimous in the decision to cancel the match.

Awake and talkative

The local newspaper The barometer writes that Linus Hedman was awake and articulate when he left Lilja’s arena in an ambulance. Something that coach Arto Miettinen confirmed to the newspaper.

– In a situation like this, hockey comes in 105th place. That’s not the most important thing. We hope and believe that it will be good. The last reports we got were head and neck injuries. We hope it will go well in the end, says Miettinen to the newspaper.

The club’s sporting director Patric Larsson also confirms that he must have been awake and talkative.

– We really hope that this goes well. But it didn’t look good, it didn’t, says Larsson to Sportbladet.

“Very cutting”

Have you heard anything more since he was taken away?

– No, I’ve only heard that he has been taken to Kalmar hospital. I don’t think we’ll get any more information tonight. They’ll take care of him there and we’ll have to hope for the best. It’s really boring.

How has the team taken this?

– There was a bit of tension in both teams. It’s not often you see bangs like this in hockey, no matter what division it is. It was very heartbreaking, I must say.

During the evening, Tingsryd wrote on social media that Linus Hedman was in Kalmar hospital and that the situation “is currently under control”.
