[L’instant tech] AI in search of drugs for neurological diseases

Use digital tools to accelerate the search for new drugs for rare neurological diseases in children. This is the ambition of the AIstroSight public-private research partnership bringing together Inria, the biotech Theranexus, the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (UCBL) and the Hospices Civils de Lyon (HCL).

Inria has researchers specializing in machine learning and numerical modeling in neuroscience to help find therapeutic targets, an element of the body involved in the development of a disease. But when the therapeutic target is identified, the institute’s teams are unable to develop the molecule that can interact with this target to prevent or contain the disease. Biotech has the necessary skills. The UCBL and the HCL are bringing their medical expertise to better understand the impact of the targets in the brain, as well as the data used to train the algorithms.
